There is only one day left until the vote of no confidence in Puerto de la Cruz, which is scheduled for Friday the 16th of this month. The new PP and CC councillors are already beginning to form. According to sources consulted by this newspaper yesterday, it seems that Pedro Antonio Campos (from the PP) will likely take charge of the Finance department. His party colleague, Desirée Díaz Torres, is expected to lead the Tourism sector, which is a crucial area in a city like Puerto de la Cruz.
Campos will also oversee Public Procurement, Heritage, and Human Resources. On the other hand, Díaz will handle Cultural Promotion responsibilities.
The potential new mayor, Leopoldo Afonso, is set to manage General Administration, Internal Affairs, and Police. Social Action, Education, Youth, and Animal Welfare will be under the responsibility of the conservative Josefa (Sandy) Reina. Felipe Rodríguez (PP) will be tasked with managing the Costa Martiánez Complex, Beaches, Public Parking, Cemetery, and Archaeological Museum. Javier González will take on Festivals, Market, and Technological Development. Lastly, Claudia Hernández will be in charge of Children, Seniors, and Disability if the information provided by various sources yesterday is accurate.
In the case of CC, their spokesperson Alonso Acevedo will handle General Services, Industry, and the Primary Sector. Diego Moreno will be responsible for Commercial Development and Commerce.
The two ACP councillors, David Hernández and Tito Cabo, will retain their current roles (Sustainable City, Citizen Participation, Employment, Sports, Health Promotion, among others) in addition to taking on Equality and LGTBI+ issues.
### News about Playa Jardín
Yesterday evening, the PSOE in El Puerto held a well-attended open meeting at the Casa del Pueblo. People who couldn’t enter even gathered on the street, some waving republican flags. Still mayor, Marco González, had a strong statement regarding his former ACP partners. He announced “good news” today regarding the closure of Playa Jardín. This probably refers to new reports that could lead to the reopening of the beach for bathers, although no specific details were disclosed.
He emphasized that he will continue working until the last minute before the vote of no confidence.
