The City Council of La Laguna, through the joint venture Teidagua, is commencing today the project to enhance the sewage system that caters to residential properties, as well as commercial and restaurant establishments in the vicinity of Plaza del Cristo and the surrounding streets. The manager of Teidagua, Félix Armas, pointed out that the planned work, which is scheduled to last for ten days, will primarily involve replacing the current main pipeline and connections. A specific focus will be on a twelve-metre segment of the collector which has reached the end of its lifespan and necessitates replacement to enhance its capacity. “To carry out such extensive works and install the new pipeline, measuring approximately 800 millimetres in diameter, a trench of nearly three metres in depth will be excavated,” explained Armas. He highlighted that various traffic adjustments will need to be made in the area. As part of these changes, traffic will be restricted on the stretch connecting the end of Nava y Grimón street with Quintín Benito street. Additionally, there will be partial closures at the end of Las Peras road, at the intersection with Padre Adán Canónigo de la Iglesia Catedral street, and at the beginning of Tabares de Cala road. Nevertheless, access will be granted to the owners of the garages on the affected streets and to the professionals of the municipal market parking in the esplanade at the end of Las Peras road. Access to the underground car park in Plaza El Cristo will also remain unaffected. The City Council of La Laguna urges citizens to cooperate by adhering to the signage instructions and the guidance of the construction site personnel in redirecting traffic and facilitating access to the garages.
Padre Anchieta
Furthermore, it is important to note that this evening the installation work will commence on the northern ramp of the pedestrian walkway at the Padre Anchieta roundabout, which will link Trinidad Avenue to the extensive pedestrian ring road, as previously announced by the Council last week. The work will be carried out during the night, commencing today at 9:00 p.m. and concluding next Friday at 6:00 a.m. This undertaking will necessitate the closure of Avenida de la Trinidad from the Glorieta del Padre Anchieta to Calle Pedro Zerolo. The Cabildo requests drivers to adhere to the instructions provided by the personnel and the signages displayed.
