SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Aug. 5 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Canary Islands Government’s Directorate of Emergencies will lift the forest fire alert on the islands of El Hierro, La Palma, La Gomera, Tenerife, and Gran Canaria at 9:00 p.m. today, Monday, 5th July.
This decision is based on information provided by the State Meteorological Agency and other relevant sources, following the Specific Plan for Civil Protection and Emergency Response for Forest Fires of the Canary Islands (INFOCA).
The alert has been active since 2nd August in the western islands and Gran Canaria, starting at 600 meters above sea level in the north and 400 meters in the south.
With the meteorological conditions that prompted the INFOCA alert ceasing, the alert is now considered over. It is important to note that the pre-alert situation from Bulletin No. 2/2024 remains in place, as stated in section 2.10.1 of INFOCA.
