The Metropolitan of Tenerife has refuted the reports claiming that they have been fined by the Labour Inspectorate due to repeated violations of the internal regulations of the company’s Health and Safety Committee. This committee is responsible for investigating accidents and incidents, among other duties.
In an audio recording released to the media, the company denied the allegations made in a press release by Comisiones Obreras. The Labour Inspectorate had reportedly fined Metropolitano de Tenerife for continuous non-compliance with the internal regulations of the Health and Safety Committee.
Sources from Metropolitano de Tenerife clarified that they have not received any sanctions. They mentioned that on July 22, they were requested by the Labour Inspectorate to provide information on accident investigations, incidents, and occupational diseases within the company. The company confirmed that they have already responded to this request.
CCOO stated in their press release that the formulation of these regulations was part of the agreement that resolved a strike in 2023. However, the union claimed that the company has demonstrated a clear intention to violate these regulations from the beginning, a trend that has persisted over time.
