SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 5th August (EUROPA PRESS) –
A total of 108 businesses from Tenerife have taken part in the tender for grants to support the transformation of the manufacturing industry and the advancement of the circular economy, promoted by the Cabildo through the Industry department, with a sum of 306,239.46 Euros.
The funding for these subsidies may be increased by an extra amount of up to 100,000 Euros, giving the tender a maximum potential budget of 406,239.46 Euros.
After receiving the applications, the council will choose the companies that meet the established criteria for accessing the grant. These funds are specifically designated for the transformation of the manufacturing industry and the promotion of the circular economy, encompassing the entirety of the industrial sector and any sectors indirectly related to industry.
Councillor Manuel Fernández highlighted that “this marks the first round of subsidies specifically for the Industry sector to be launched in the history of the Cabildo. With these grants, we aim to incentivise the sector to invest in expenses aligned with sustainable development goals and energy efficiency. By implementing a strategy that seeks to ensure that industry takes on a leading role in Tenerife’s economy and job market.”.
The councillor announced that “due to the overwhelming response to this initiative, we are considering increasing the budget allocation for future calls.” He stressed that “managing the industrial sector in Tenerife has been a longstanding concern for this Council, a situation we aim to address with the establishment of the dedicated Ministry of Industry, which will cater to the needs and demands of this sector. It is a crucial tool for the economic diversification of the island.”.
Fernández pointed out that “from the inception of the Industry department, a first in the history of the island institution during this term, we are committed to launching various forms of assistance to promote and advance the industrial sector in Tenerife. This sector plays a strategic role in the island’s economy, contributing not only to economic diversification but also creating stable, skilled, and high-quality jobs.
The Minister of Industry concluded that “within this context, we have set ourselves the goal of enriching, consolidating, and supporting the industry in Tenerife.” Following an assessment of the state of the sector on the island, “we identified the necessity to introduce specific subsidy programmes for the sector.”.
Currently, there are approximately 1,500 companies associated with the industrial sector in Tenerife.
