The Town Hall of Los Silos announced that it is actively promoting social rental housing in the municipality by constructing two new homes. In this regard, the Council has secured a grant of €371,600 under the Active Housing Programme 2024 implemented by the Cooperation and Housing Area of the Cabildo de Tenerife.
The project entails building two houses in the San Bernardo neighbourhood (Las Canteras) designated for social rental purposes. These houses will be situated on the site where the public housing known as Casa Azul currently stands. The municipal property will be demolished beforehand due to its poor state of preservation.
The Los Silos Town Council reiterated its collaboration with the relevant supra-municipal authorities to augment the housing stock and assign them to families in need of alternative accommodation. Thus, the initiation of this project will provide two families from Los Silos with the opportunity of acquiring decent housing. The project is presently in the design phase.
“Los Silos has not seen an increase in its public housing inventory for over 15 years, and this is a key focus for the new governing coalition, PSOE-USP,” stated the Mayor of Los Silos, Carmen Luz Baso Lorenzo.
