Evaluating Tenerife’s Infrastructures: College of Civil Engineers’ Impact

The Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Services, and Navigation of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has established a collaboration pact with the provincial demarcation of the College of Civil Engineers, Canals, and Ports to create a report examining the status of infrastructure projects in Tenerife.

This formal agreement was signed at the Chamber headquarters involving the president of the entity, Santiago Sesé, Luis Pintor Sepúlveda, dean of the demarcation, and Luis Gutiérrez Valido, a member and president of the Mobility Committee of the demarcation.

This cooperative effort will provide an overview of the island’s situation regarding unfinished or stalled infrastructure projects, with the objective of analyzing the social and economic repercussions. “Tenerife’s infrastructure backlog is long-standing; a quick look at our road conditions illustrates the urgency of implementing measures to finally resolve this deadlock,” stated Santiago Sesé.

Mobility, energy, hydraulic, and port infrastructures will feature in this technical analysis involving both parties. The agreement, spanning two years, will establish a joint monitoring committee to ensure adherence and quality. “Many of the current challenges stem from the non-execution of vital projects such as the Reina Sofía expansion or the TF-5 extension. Hence, we believe that through this agreement, we can lay the groundwork based on concrete and up-to-date data to safeguard the island’s interests,” added the Chamber’s spokesperson.

The dean of the demarcation also expressed appreciation for the trust placed in the group of civil engineers. “The college, as a public institution, is dedicated to serving society,” he remarked. He also emphasised that “signing this agreement represents an excellent opportunity to promote the voluntary work carried out across our technical committees.”
