LAS PALMAS DE GRAN CANARIA, 3 Aug. (EUROPA PRESS) –
An individual, whose identity remains undisclosed, sustained injuries on Saturday while fishing at the port of Mogán in the southern region of Gran Canaria. This information was disclosed by the Emergency and Security Coordination Centre (Cecoes) 1-1-2.
The incident took place at approximately 06.45 hours, when an alert was received by the 1-1-2 operations room reporting a fisherman’s fall in the tetrapod area on the breakwater at the aforementioned port. Subsequently, the necessary emergency resources were promptly activated.
Dispatched to the scene were a basic life support ambulance and a medical ambulance from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), firefighters from the Gran Canaria Emergency Consortium, officers from the Mogán Local Police, and members of the municipality’s Civil Protection.
Upon arrival at the scene, the firefighters confirmed that the victim was situated in a challenging area for emergency personnel access. As a result, the firefighters carried out a complex rescue with the assistance of Civil Protection members.
Following the rescue operation, the injured individual received medical attention from SUC staff and was subsequently transferred to the Insular University Hospital of Gran Canaria. The victim had suffered facial trauma and was experiencing moderate cervical pain. The Local Police cooperated with the emergency services and managed the necessary procedures.
