The Canarian Executive has approved in the Government Council a direct subsidy of 281,004.93 euros to the Barlovento City Council (La Palma) for the reform and construction of new facilities in the Recreational Park of La Laguna. This project is considered crucial for enhancing tourist infrastructure not only in the municipality and the island but in the entire Canary Islands region.
The Recreational Park, which includes a camping area and parking facilities, is among the largest in the archipelago, catering to both residents and visitors.
The Canarian Government emphasizes the need for continuous renewal and modernisation of tourist infrastructure to maintain the competitiveness of the Canary Islands in the international market. This involves prioritising the creation of efficient, accessible, aesthetically pleasing spaces that harmonise with the environment.
Furthermore, efforts are being made to carry out various works to adapt significant natural points and areas from a tourism perspective. This includes enhancing hiking trails and rural roads, improving tourist facilities, and adapting public viewing points to promote active and nature tourism.
Due to economic considerations, the Governing Council has approved the creation of a specific budget allocation for the implementation of this tourism development project. A technical project has already been contracted by the local council for this purpose, aligning with the objectives of the Tourist Infrastructures and Integrated Management of Tourist Centres budget program.
