SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 31 Jul (EUROPA PRESS) –
La Palma’s Cabildo, under the Infrastructure Department, has initiated efforts to refurbish Camino El Pedregal in Los Llanos de Aridane. This will grant access to a total of 55 plots in the initial phase of the project, along with connecting LP-211 to the La Laguna neighbourhood.
Sergio Rodríguez, the island’s president, inspected the project’s commencement with Darwin Rodríguez, head of Infrastructure, and Los Llanos de Aridane’s mayor, Javier Llamas. He stated that the emergency works aim to restore the road’s original route spanning 823 meters.
Moreover, the road will link with Camino Cumplido and the Puerta del Futuro roundabout, facilitating area recovery as well as the forthcoming service development. Extending through secondary roads branching off from this route, it may allow for the revival of a 190,000 square meter area.
The plan is to establish surface communication by the next week and subsequently modify it for the transit of light vehicles to reach its final state. Sergio Rodríguez emphasized the significance of progressing in road restoration, thereby opening up more possibilities for residents and agricultural landowners, working “from the exterior towards the interior, encompassing both the east and the west.”
In turn, Javier Llamas highlighted that these joint actions by the Island Council and Los Llanos de Aridane City Council respond to residents’ requests. These initiatives form part of the agreement between local authorities and the State for infrastructure development.
The Cabildo and the Canary Islands Government are contributing 50% of the funding, with the remaining half to be supplied by the central Government. Both Sergio Rodríguez and Javier Llamas urge for prompt payment to ensure the continued progress in infrastructure recovery in the Aridane Valley.
