Tenerife Insular Winery Secures New Rental Contract for 94,021 Euros

The Tenerife Island Council has granted the lease of the winery facilities in Tacoronte to the company Bodegas Insulares de Tenerife SA for €94,021 for a duration of one year, starting from October 1.

Awarding this new contract by the council is linked to a previous agreement made before the end of the 2023 fiscal year when the prior concession held by Bodegas Insulares de Tenerife was terminated.

Vice President Lope Afonso stated that the decision was taken “to regularise the use of the Insular Wineries following various administrative procedures which resulted in proceedings before the Directorate General for Competition of the European Commission.”

Socialist councillor Javier Parrilla from the island council explains that the solution proposed by the Canarian Coalition government only delays the final response, previously suggested by the government of Pedro Martín, which involved a property exchange between Bodegas Insulares de Tenerife and the Cabildo. He urged President Rosa Dávila to provide a permanent solution for the small family wineries of Bodegas Insulares, which currently comprises around 300 producers.
