Yesterday, an excited crowd enjoyed a magnificent spectacle presented by the Air Force and various State Security Forces and Corps on the esplanade of the Puerto de la Cruz dock at the 28th Aeromodelling and Aeronautics Festival, marking the end of the Fiestas del Gran Poder and the Virgen del Carmen.
The festival kicked off with a warm welcome from the San Antonio Bugle and Drum Band, followed by captivating performances from the members of the Tenerife Aeromodelling Club, who thrilled the audience with their displays. Subsequently, the GES air rescue service of the Government of the Canary Islands took the stage, leading to a demonstration of maritime rescue by the SAR Squadron of the Air Force. The National Police showcased their expertise with drone and helicopter manoeuvres. A giant screen broadcasted the performances of the Air Search and Rescue Service in Spain at the dock entrance, paving the way for the impressive flyover of two F-18 fighters. The perfectly choreographed passes along the coast of El Puerto left everyone in awe.
Mayor Marco González then proceeded to honour all the collaborators who contributed to showcasing the resources and professionalism of the Forces and Corps and the Air Force in such a remarkable way. The festivities concluded with a performance by the Music Unit of the Canary Islands Air Command in the vicinity of Casa de la Aduana, providing a delightful finale to the July 2024 Celebrations.
