During the early hours of Monday, the Salvamento Marítimo’s search and rescue boat, Caliope, successfully rescued a small boat carrying 34 people when it was approximately 12.8 kilometres (8 nautical miles) south of La Restinga, in El Hierro, as reported by the Emergency and Security Coordination Centre of the 112 in Canary Islands and Salvamento.
The rescue operation, coordinated by the maritime controllers at the rescue centre in Tenerife, concluded with the disembarkation at the port of La Restinga, where they arrived around 5.10 am.

Subsequently, the medical team at the port, consisting of staff from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) and Red Cross, attended to the 34 migrants, who were all in good general health.
