On Monday, a small boat carrying 138 migrants arrived on the island of El Hierro under the escort of Salvamento Marítimo, as reported by sources from the public organisation Europa Press.
The vessel was sighted around 12:45 by the maritime surveillance vessel ‘Calíope’ approximately three nautical miles to the south of the island, within the Marine Reserve area. Subsequently, the vessel proceeded to make contact and escorted the small boat to La Restinga dock.
An hour later, the occupants of the small boat (comprising 122 men, 3 women, and 13 minors) were disembarked and provided with assistance by health personnel from SUC, Primary Care, and volunteers from the Red Cross, with no need for further transfers to healthcare facilities.
