Canary Islands Weather Update: Dropping Temperatures and Light Rain Expected this Monday

The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) forecasts intervals of clouds in Canary Islands today, with cloudy skies in the north of the main islands, where light occasional rain could occur, especially in the western islands. Temperatures will decrease in inland areas with light to moderate north winds.

Winds may be stronger on the east and northwest slopes of the islands. Regarding sea conditions, there will be north or northeast winds of force 3 or 4 and 5 or 6, with slight to moderate swell, choppy seas and rough seas, and variable force from 1 to 3 with breezes, calm or slight swell on the south and southwest coasts. A north swell is expected with waves of 1 to 2 meters.

Gran Canaria

In the north, cloudy intervals with a low chance of light occasional rain, especially in midlands. Elsewhere, partly cloudy becoming cloudy around midday, with possible light occasional rain. Temperatures will remain unchanged on the coast and slightly decrease in the midlands and high areas. Light to moderate north winds with strong intervals on southeast and west slopes, with prevailing breezes on the south coast.

Expected Minimum and Maximum Temperatures (ºC): Las Palmas de Gran Canaria 21 25

Lanzarote

Cloudy intervals with mostly cloudy skies initially, clearing up towards the southeast later in the day. Some light occasional rain is possible until early afternoon. Temperatures will remain stable. Light to moderate north winds. Breezes on the south coast.

Expected Minimum and Maximum Temperatures (ºC): Arrecife 21 26

Fuerteventura

Cloudy intervals with mostly cloudy skies initially. Some light occasional scattered rain possible until early afternoon. Temperatures will remain stable. Light to moderate north winds.

Expected Minimum and Maximum Temperatures (ºC): Puerto del Rosario 21 26

Tenerife

Cloudy skies dominant, especially during midday. Chance of light occasional rain in the north, with possibilities in the south during midday. Clear skies in central peaks. Temperatures will remain unchanged on the coast, slightly decreasing in midlands and high areas, potentially becoming locally moderate. Light to moderate northeast winds with breezes on the south coast. In central peaks, light northwest winds turning variable.

Expected Minimum and Maximum Temperatures (ºC): Santa Cruz de Tenerife 22 27

La Gomera

Cloudy skies prevailing in the north with a chance of light occasional rain. Elsewhere, cloudy intervals becoming mostly cloudy during midday, with possible light occasional rain in inland areas. Temperatures will remain stable on the coast, slightly decreasing in the midlands and high areas, potentially becoming locally moderate. Light north winds, becoming moderate northeast, with breezes on the south coast.

Expected Minimum and Maximum Temperatures (ºC): San Sebastián de la Gomera 22 26

La Palma

Cloudy skies becoming partly clear towards the end. Chance of light occasional rain in the north and east, with possibilities in the midlands of the western slopes around midday. Temperatures will remain stable on the coast, with a slight to moderate decrease in the midlands and high areas. Moderate northeast winds, stronger in the northwest and southeast extremes. Breezes on the west coast.

Expected Minimum and Maximum Temperatures (ºC): Santa Cruz de la Palma 21 24

El Hierro

Cloudy skies, clearing up in the south towards the end. Chance of light occasional rain in the north. Temperatures will remain stable on the coast, with a slight decrease in the midlands and high areas. Light north winds turning to moderate northeast. Breezes on the southwest coast.

Expected Minimum and Maximum Temperatures (ºC): Valverde 16 20
