The teams of Sports & You Canarias have had an incredible weekend on the island of Tenerife. The tenth edition of the Rally Ciudad de La Laguna marks the beginning of the second and final part of the regional championship, in a scenario where the squad led by Emma Falcón has once again achieved a spectacular triple triumph.
Yeray Lemes, who was debuting a new co-driver in the form of David Vázquez and facing the stages of this event for the first time, ended up winning the rally with a little over five seconds to spare. The Lanzarote native, who also accumulated points for winning the TC Plus, extends his lead at the top of the CCRA, which will now take a break until mid-September.
Second place for Sergio Fuentes and Ariday Bonilla. With another Citroën C3 Rally2 from the team, the pair from Tenerife and Lanzarote concluded their performance in La Laguna by winning, precisely, in their home stage: ‘Candelaria’. This result helps them regain the second position in the CCRA, as well as making significant progress at a provincial and island level, where they lead and defend the title they won last year.
A commendable third place for Miguel Suárez and Eduardo González. Despite starting the first day losing nearly 20 seconds in a stage of less than two kilometres, the reigning champions did not give up and pushed throughout Saturday. They secured three stage wins, second place in the TC Plus, and valuable points that still keep them in the title fight.
Undoubtedly, the three teams from Sports & You Canarias brought colour and excitement to this fifth round of the Canarian asphalt rally championship. After a day marked by intense heat, the three squads ended up separated by less than ten seconds.
And so, with the sweet taste of an important triple victory for the individual interests of each of these three teams, Sports & You Canarias concludes the first part of a season that has been intense. Now, all eyes are set on the second half of September, where the penultimate high-coefficient event will take place, the Rally La Palma Isla Bonita, which will be crucial in the aspirations of all CCRA candidates.
