SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 27 (EUROPA PRESS)

Three small boats have reached the islands of El Hierro and Tenerife this Saturday with 190 migrants on board, all from sub-Saharan countries. Four of them required medical attention for various conditions, as reported by Maritime Rescue, the Red Cross, and Cecoes 1-1-2 to Europa Press.

The first alert was received just before 02.30 hours, when Cecoes 1-1-2 activated emergency resources to provide assistance to a boat carrying 51 men who had arrived at the La Restinga dock. They were all in good health and did not need to be taken to health facilities.

Around 7.20 am, a new alert was received after the arrival of a second boat on the island carrying 81 people, two of whom received treatment on the dock for minor illnesses.

Another alert was received at around 07.30 hours when the Naviera Armas ferry ‘Volcán de Tauce’ reported sighting a small boat 8 miles from Los Cristianos. The Maritime Rescue Centre in Tenerife immediately deployed the ‘Alpheratz’ lifeboat.

Upon reaching the specified location, the rescue boat found the small boat and escorted it to the port of Los Cristianos. The 58 occupants, all from sub-Saharan countries, disembarked on their own. They received assistance from health personnel from the SUC and Primary Care, as well as Red Cross volunteers. Two individuals were transferred to health facilities for medical conditions.
