SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 27 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The realm of Canary Islands theatre will convene this Sunday in the Chamber Hall of the Tenerife Auditorium for the 2024 Reproduction Awards ceremony. The awards for the ten categories in contention will be presented, with the Honorary Reproduction Award being bestowed upon Ángel Camacho in recognition of his illustrious career in the performing arts sector in the islands.
Following the submission of 55 shows for consideration, the various judging panels have scrutinised each piece to arrive at the final nominees who will gather this Sunday at the Tenerife Auditorium. Starting at 5:00 p.m., the victors for categories including Best Sound Space, Best Stage Design, Best Costumes, Best Lighting, Best Canarian Authorship, Best Children’s Show, Best Dance Show, Best Adult Show, Best Interpretation, and Best Direction will be revealed.
Just hours before the gala commences, its organiser, Ricardo del Castillo, acknowledged the tremendous effort that has gone into this edition: “This year has seen significant growth, with the display phase expanding to both capital islands and this event, which has been meticulously prepared with great dedication and enthusiasm. The jury faced a challenging task this year due to the high calibre of entries, but we trust that all attendees will leave content and elated after the gala.”
The event will see the attendance of various figures from the Canary Islands theatre scene, along with the presence of the Culture Councillor of the Cabildo de Tenerife, José Carlos Acha; the Culture Councillor of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, Guacimara Medina; the General Director of Cultural Innovation and Creative Industries – Cristóbal de la Rosa, and the CEO of Tourism of Tenerife – Dimple Melwani, among other dignitaries.
Additionally, during the ceremony, the president of the Reproduction Association, Raúl Morán, and the recipient of the 2024 Honorary Reproduction Award, Ángel Camacho Cabrera, will deliver speeches following his esteemed recognition for over six decades dedicated to the arts in the Canary Islands.
