The cobbled streets of the historic centre of La Laguna were filled with the annual procession in honour of the city’s patron saint, San Cristóbal, on Saturday 27th July. Prior to the procession, a religious service was held inside the Cathedral church, a tradition that attracts dozens of locals and visitors to the centre.
The commemoration of the patron saint coincided with the 528th anniversary of the city’s foundation, adding an extra layer of significance to the celebrations. The event was graced by the presence of city councillors from Laguna City Council.
This year, the procession route led from inside the Cathedral church, winding its way through the streets of San Agustín, Juan de Vera, and La Carrera before returning to its starting point, creating a vibrant display of faith and tradition.
In another part of the city, the blessing of taxis took place in the portico of the temple, marking another important aspect of this religious festivity on Saturday morning.
