SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 25 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Agents from the Civil Guard, part of the Fiscal and Border Patrol of Playa de las Américas on Tenerife island, have issued 11 reports as part of their annual summer campaign to oversee recreational boats and jet skis.
Inspections in the southern region of Tenerife have uncovered 11 violations of Royal Legislative Decree 2/2011, dated 5 September, which endorses the Revised Text of the Law on State Ports and the Merchant Navy. Consequently, reports have been compiled and processed for infractions such as the skipper not being registered on the vessel, absence of mandatory insurance receipts, or possessing an unreadable registration number, among others, as stated in a press release by the Civil Guard.
Additionally, subsequent to the conducted inspections and cooperation with a request from the General Treasury of Social Security, several jet skis have been immobilised and sealed. This action was taken after verifying the registration and chassis numbers of these jet skis, revealing an inconsistency in one of the jet ski’s chassis number compared to the documentation provided.
Following thorough inspections, the owner of the jet skis was investigated for allegedly committing the crime of forging a public document – specifically, falsifying a license plate.
The primary objective of such operations is to ensure the safety of individuals and other users of these vehicles, as well as any other potential vessels.
