SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 25 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Major General Luis Cortés Delgado, the Head of Operations of the Canary Islands Command Headquarters, has relinquished his position to Major General Ramón Armada Vázquez, following his appointment as General Commander of Melilla after serving nearly a year in the archipelago.
This was announced by the Ministry of Defence in its Official Gazette dated July 24, 2024, in accordance with Order 430/11674/24, at the recommendation of the Head of Operations of the Army and the Navy Divisional General who was appointed in the same bulletin under Order 430/11675/24, as communicated by the Canary Islands Command in a press release.
Therefore, Major General Cortés assumes his new role with the backing of his experience in leading the Operations of the Canary Islands Command (Canary Islands, Balearic Islands, Ceuta and Melilla), while Major General Armada brings extensive experience in the Canary Islands archipelago from his prior tenure as the general commander of the 16th Canary Islands Brigade for three years, having taken command in 2020. Additionally, he served as the commander of the ‘Albuera’ Battalion of the ‘Tenerife’ Infantry Regiment No. 49 for another three years since 2011.
