SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 25 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The CECOPIN of the Cabildo de Tenerife has officially declared extinguished a fire that broke out in the early hours of the morning in the Madre del Agua region, situated in the municipality of Tacoronte (Tenerife), as reported by the Emergency and Security Coordination Centre of 112 of the Canary Islands.

The fire has impacted 150 square metres of shrubland and ferns. Various authorities including the Civil Guard, Civil Protection, and Rural Guard were involved in containing the incident.

Tenerife Island Council President, Rosa Dávila, announced on Wednesday the activation of level 2 precautions on the island due to the forest fire risk, prompting the preventive evacuation of 217 individuals from different woodland areas.

The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has issued a yellow warning (risk) for Thursday in Tenerife due to high temperatures, expected to reach up to 34ºC in high areas and mid-mountains facing south, as well as the south-eastern side of the metropolitan area.
