Awaiting the official confirmation of the signing of Joe Thomasson as the partner of Caleb Homesley in the shooting guard position, Willy Villar has already finalised the squad with which Jaka Lakovic will lead the team for his third season at the helm of Dreamland Gran Canaria.
On 12th August, the season will kick off with the first medical check-ups, the initial step to start a season in which the highlight is the dispute of the Copa del Rey where the team will host the event for the fourth time in its history.
To prepare for the official debut against Dolomiti Energia Trento on Tuesday 24th September (20:00 hrs), the Slovenian coach will have several practice matches, with the standout being the powerful Virtus Bologna, and including the summer clashes with their eternal rival, now renamed La Laguna Tenerife.
As part of their schedule, the team will travel to Zaragoza where they will kick off the preseason against the newly promoted Força Lleida of Oriol Paulí and Casademont of Porfi Fisac, on the 29th and 30th of August.
Subsequently, the yellow team will participate in the XIV International Basketball Tournament City of Cagliari in the capital of Sardinia (Italy), where they will face a Euroleague team, Virtus Bologna, on the 6th of September. The following day, depending on the results of the other two guests, they will face either the Italian Dinamo Sassari or the Greek PAOK Basketball team.
To cap off their demanding preseason, Granca will host Tenerife at the Arena on the 12th of September (18:30) and then visit the Tenerife team on the 18th of September, in the last match against Txus Vidorreta’s squad at the Pabellón Santiago Martín (18:30).
