SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 24 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Civil Guard’s Special Rescue and Intervention Group in Mountains (GREIM) successfully located and rescued a hiker who went missing in the rugged terrain of the Los Gigantes Cliff in Tenerife yesterday.
The distress call came in just before ten o’clock at night, prompting GREIM agents to launch a rescue operation for the individual stranded in a highly inaccessible area.
Traversing a path that took over an hour, the agents finally reached a steep and challenging area where the lost hiker was clinging on, unable to proceed further or retrace his steps due to the treacherous terrain.
After providing food, water, and assessing his condition, they commenced the journey back, guiding him on foot and securing him with ropes through the most hazardous sections, characterised by cliffs with sheer vertical walls.
Upon navigating through the most perilous and demanding stretch, the hiker continued independently, accompanied by the GREIM agents. Thankfully, he emerged unscathed, requiring no medical attention.
