SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 22 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Summer University of La Gomera has announced the rearrangement of certain courses offered in this edition. Consequently, the courses scheduled for Teaching Techniques and Agri-Food Contamination will now take place in September, with the Council’s Plenary Hall being the venue for the training.

This educational initiative, supported by the Island Council and the University of La Laguna, presents various training courses happening between July 22 and 29 in different locations across the island’s municipalities.

Specifically, the training on Techniques, styles, and teaching strategies is scheduled for September 4, 5, and 6. The course aims to equip students with information and practical cross-cutting proposals enabling the effective and efficient application of various strategies and specific techniques for teaching physical and/or sports activities, through diverse dynamics applicable in their daily routines.

Similarly, the course on Agri-Food Contamination will take place on 11, 12, and 13 September. The training sessions will focus on understanding the significance of safe food consumption, distinguishing between quality and safety, the primary contaminants, and the analytical techniques utilised to assess safety.

The University of La Laguna, under the Vice-Rectorate for Culture and University Outreach, will provide a certificate of attendance to all participants who attend a minimum of 80% of the face-to-face teaching hours of the courses. Furthermore, those who successfully complete the independent work required of students will receive a certificate of attendance and accomplishment, also entitling them to an ECTS credit.

Registration is still available, free of charge, for the other courses, which need to be completed online through this link: University of La Gomera Summer University Registration

The remaining courses are set to commence on July 29. The course ‘Master the Future: Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence’ will take place at the Auditorium of the Alajeró Town Hall and will concentrate on understanding the basics of artificial intelligence, exploring key AI models, and learning to utilise chat-based generative intelligence tools such as ChatGPT, Google Bard, Bing Chat. It will also showcase applications of Artificial Intelligence across various domains.

Meanwhile, the Benedicto Negrín Auditorium in Agulo will be the venue for the course focusing on the Prevention of suicidal behaviour in children and adolescents. This course delves into identifying the personal, family, and contextual factors contributing to suicidal behaviour in young individuals. The acquired knowledge will be applied to recognise the risk factors linked to suicidal behaviour and develop the necessary skills to enhance protective factors.

Lastly, the Casa de la Cultura de Valle Gran Rey will host the course on Pedagogy of emotions in the teaching-learning process, aiming to explore and understand the pedagogy of emotions and its implications in the teaching-learning process. Participants will learn to develop and apply emotional management techniques with students to enhance emotional well-being.
