SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 22 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Tenerife Island Council is set to introduce the ‘I Tenerife Island Council Open Data Competition: Reuse Ideas’ and the ‘II Tenerife Island Council Open Data Competition: APP Development’. These endeavours are part of the island authority’s Open Data initiative, which not only contributes to the transparency of the institution but also involves providing citizens, researchers, businesses, and other entities with a wide range of information resources created by the Council to add value to the economy and society. The data can be accessed on the Council’s digital platform at https://sede.tenerife.es
The ‘1st Tenerife Island Council Open Data Competition: Reuse Ideas’ aims to acknowledge the submission of ideas and suggestions that showcase potential research projects, services, educational materials, websites, or mobile applications that utilise datasets from the Tenerife Island Council’s Open Data portal and other organisations, demonstrating the economic and social advantages of open data.
On the other hand, the ‘II Tenerife Council Open Data Competition: APP Development’ seeks to build on the foundation laid by the first competition and recognise the development of a web or mobile application based on the datasets available on the portal, focusing on the utilisation of open data.
The initial competition will evaluate the extent of data reutilisation from the Open Data Tenerife Portal, as well as the feasibility of the proposed idea, its practicality, social impact, and level of innovation. The subsequent competition will assess the uniqueness, inventiveness, and technical excellence in app development. Both competitions will award three prizes, with the first, second, and third-place winners receiving €3,000, €2,000, and €1,000 respectively.
