The Tenerife Island Council is actively participating in major international film-related gatherings. It is anticipated that, through the Tenerife Film Commission, the council will be present at 18 forums, conventions, and festivals throughout the current year. The council is promoting the industry as a key element for economic diversification and to reduce reliance on tourism. Vice-president Lope Afonso held a meeting at the Island Palace with the Audiovisual Cluster of the Canary Islands, an organisation he deems “crucial for our island’s economic and social progress.” The core focus on promoting various types of productions, ranging from series to films, and from animation to documentaries, is “a pivotal aspect” of their efforts.
