The Council of Tenerife is committing £6.4 million with a six-month timetable to establish a new plant for treating leachate – the liquid residue from landfills – and converting it into valuable resources. Situated within the Arico Environmental Complex, this facility will facilitate the processing of these liquids for purposes such as street cleaning, irrigation, construction, and fire protection. The refurbishment and enhancement works commenced yesterday, with Blanca Pérez, the Minister of Natural Environment, Sustainability, Security, and Emergencies, and Alejandro Molowny, the island’s Waste Director, inspecting the project’s progress.
