SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 17th Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Governing Council of Tenerife Island’s Council approved the tender for the refurbishment project of the Teno Lighthouse, located in Buenavista del Norte, with the investment of over 1.6 million from Next Generation funds on Wednesday.
This decision was announced during a press conference by President Rosa Dávila, highlighting that the goal is to open the new facilities to the public by the summer of 2025, following an estimated ten-month construction period.
The intention is for the lighthouse to transform into a hub for showcasing the characteristics of the area and the Teno Rural Park, 127 years after its construction. It will also play a crucial role in enhancing “control and surveillance” in the region.
Furthermore, there are plans for the future inclusion of a café and restaurant service, which will be subjected to a tender process, to enhance the visitor experience in the area, which currently lacks basic amenities such as restrooms.
