The Next Big Surprise for the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Carnival?

The show “Good Morning Canarias” on Atlántico Radio has piqued the curiosity of carnival enthusiasts this Thursday. Presenters Willy García and Gara García have let slip that there are Negotiations underway to bring the renowned Colombian artist Karol G to the upcoming carnivals in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

This unexpected news has caused a buzz on social media within minutes, mainly due to the substantial financial investment that would be needed to have an international star participate in both events.

Although there is no Official confirmation yet, it is understood that talks have taken place with Karol G’s representative. This prospect is being seriously considered for Carnival 2025, or as a backup plan for the following year.

If this plan materialises, it would mark a significant moment akin to the attendance record set by Celia Cruz in 1987, when over 200,000 people danced to her music in the capital of Tenerife. Despite Juan Luis Guerra’s visit unofficially surpassing this record, it was never officially acknowledged by the Guinness World Records.
