“They will face consequences.” These words were conveyed by Rosa Dávila, the president of the Tenerife Island Council, on Wednesday as a message to arsonists. It served as a signal to society that actions are being taken. The nationalist leader “has initiated a battle against the arsonists following the four fires that occurred last Sunday and Monday in El Rosario, Los Realejos, and Icod de los Vinos,” stated the island’s governing body in a press release. Additionally, the nationalist leader called for assistance from the public to identify the arsonists during the press conference that ensued the weekly Government Council meeting, following the steps taken by El Rosario’s mayor, Escolástico Gil, since the previous Monday.
