As of the previous Monday, 8th July, the municipal authorities of Santa Cruz de Tenerife ordered the closing off of access to the Benijo shoreline due to small landslides that have been detected in the recent weeks.
The City Police of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has publicly condemned the actions of “some reckless individuals” who have dismantled the safety fencing and warning signs, resulting in numerous individuals gaining access to the area unknowingly and exposing themselves to unnecessary risks, as reported by the authorities in a statement released through ‘X’.
Despite numerous appeals from the local council to respect the warnings, a significant number of people continue to disregard these instructions on a daily basis, particularly during weekends, and breach the cordons preventing entry.
The City Council is currently in the process of swiftly exploring initial measures to address this issue.
There have been instances where certain individuals have deliberately removed the signage and the safety fencing on several occasions, necessitating subsequent replacements. The concern is that many individuals come across the access lacking the necessary signs and unknowingly put themselves at risk. pic.twitter.com/tRTlzqwmp9
