The footpaths and rural roads of Anaga will undergo rehabilitation to enhance the quality of life for locals and visitors in the natural park. The Governing Board of the City Council of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has urgently approved the contracting file for maintenance, conservation, and improvement services of rural infrastructures within this region. This approval includes a multi-year investment of 2.677 million euros through an open tendering process.
Emphasising the significance of the approved agreement, Mayor José Manuel Bermúdez stated, “This is a solid commitment to the residents of Anaga, a natural area that necessitates maintenance and the execution of both minor and major actions, such as building retaining walls and mesh on slopes.”
Furthermore, Councillor for Works and Infrastructure, Javier Rivero, highlighted the urgency declaration “for a procedure that will contribute to the rehabilitation and conservation of local paths and roads. Our aim is to continue investing in Anaga to enhance the quality of life for residents and visitors.”
In the meeting, it was also agreed to raise the percentage limits of future spending commitments for the upcoming years. District Councillor, Gladis de León, stated, “This signifies a significant budgetary effort and showcases the dedication and commitment to Anaga, one of the treasures within our municipality whose maintenance and enhancement are secured for the future years.”
Yearly Expenditure
The file includes an authorised expenditure of 339,230 euros for the regular maintenance of rural infrastructure services in Anaga for the year 2024. Additionally, 1,696,152 euros have been approved for routine maintenance, with the following annual breakdown: 2025 – 678,460 euros, 2026 – 678,460 euros, and 2027 – 339,230 euros.
Moreover, an expenditure of 107,000 euros has been allocated for extraordinary maintenance in 2024, and a total of 535,000 euros until 2027, with the following distribution: 2025 – 214,000 euros, 2026 – 214,000 euros, and 2027 – 107,000 euros.
