The Cabildo of Tenerife and the Government of the Canary Islands are calling on the Spanish Government to allocate the necessary national funding for the implementation of the agreement on hydraulic projects aimed at addressing the ongoing and severe drought affecting the Archipelago and the Island. This call comes especially in light of the water emergency declaration. These statements were made by island president, Rosa Dávila, and regional councillor for Territorial Planning and Water, Manuel Miranda, following their meeting at the island palace. The meeting was also attended by José Miguel Ruano, councillor for the Presidency, Blanca Pérez, councillor for the Natural Environment, Sustainability and Security and Emergencies, Marcos Lorenzo, deputy councillor for Miranda’s department, and Mónica Gómez, the general director of Water.
