The Institute of Technological and Renewable Energy (ITER), under the administration of the Tenerife Island Council, is spearheading the Paulia project. This initiative is focused on discovering indigenous plant species that can lower temperatures in urban areas. It involves collaboration with the Granadilla de Abona Municipal Services company (Sermugran) and the State Agency Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), which includes two research institutions: the Institute of Construction Sciences Eduardo Torroja (IETcc-CSIC) and the Royal Botanical Garden (RJB-CSIC). The funding for Paulia comes from the Ministry of Science and Innovation, via the State Research Agency, and the European Union’s NextGeneration programme.
