Icod de los Vinos is set to become the pioneer city in the Canary Islands with a unique “entrepreneurs’ gym” that will enhance skills such as strategic planning, effective leadership, teamwork, and adaptability to change through the use of virtual reality. This initiative is part of a network of 75 virtual reality hubs across the nation.
Organised by the Association for the Promotion of Training, Employment, Information, and Development of the North (Afedes), headquartered in Ciudad del Drago, the key feature of this groundbreaking project is Neoskills. This hybrid simulator merges virtual reality with hands-on training, utilising state-of-the-art technology to create immersive scenarios that are deemed “ultra-realistic,” enabling participants to tackle various challenges as a cohesive team.
“Through this cutting-edge platform, competencies are assessed and honed to enhance teamwork, boost employability, foster entrepreneurship, and nurture talent development,” Catalina Lorenzo Cáceres y Farizo, President and Director of Afedes, shared with the press. The association will be showcasing the project to governmental and professional representatives on Wednesday, offering them a chance to engage in a “fun and stimulating team training session.”
Government officials from the Canary Islands, the Tenerife Island Council, the FYDE-Cajacanarias Foundation, the University of La Laguna, and GF Hoteles company are expected to participate in this event. Afedes can provide the tool for implementation in institutions, companies, and organisations upon request. Further details about the project are available on the website www.afedes.org.
Afedes is among the entities involved in the Social Tech Labt project, which receives funding from the Ministry of Social Rights and Agenda 2030 through the European Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Fund. The project aims to enhance individual skills and revitalise depopulated areas by establishing a network of local entities that drive economic and social progress.
