SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 15th July (EUROPA PRESS) –
Authorities in El Rosario, including the Local Police and Civil Guard, are currently conducting an inquiry and have gathered testimonies from several witnesses regarding the origins of the fire that ignited at approximately 11:00 p.m. on Sunday, scorching around seven hectares of land including undergrowth, dry grass, bushes, broom, and eucalyptus trees.
This marks the second fire to have occurred in the area in a brief span, following another incident that began in the afternoon on Los Nateros Street, adjacent to the main route to La Esperanza (TF-24), albeit that one was of smaller scale.
Mayor Escolástico Gil is urging the public to cooperate and report any suspicious activities or individuals on hillsides or deserted agricultural areas they may observe.
Gil also highlighted that the ordinance for the clearance of plots is now in effect and the local effort to permit grazing by goatherds from the region on unused land is ongoing, subject to the landowners’ consent.
Brifor units, in conjunction with the Civil Protection Volunteer Group of El Rosario, are stationed in the impacted zones, conducting damping down and surveillance operations.
