The Tenerife Island Council has allocated 500,000 euros towards a fund for emergency social housing subsidies for the municipalities of Tenerife. Minister for Social Action, Águeda Fumero, explains that “this is a new initiative that we have introduced during this term, with the goal of providing financial support to the Tenerife municipalities dealing with urgent social housing situations, considering that municipalities are the closest public administrations to the population.”
The aim of this funding is to “assist municipal entities on the island of Tenerife in addressing social housing emergencies that may arise in their areas,” states the councillor, clarifying that the aid’s objective will encompass “all efforts aimed at finding housing solutions for individuals identified by municipal social services as experiencing social exclusion or at risk of facing it.”
Dedication
In this context, Fumero declares that “from the Council, we have sought to reaffirm our commitment to municipalism and the social landscape of Tenerife from various angles, particularly concerning housing access, given that this is a major concern for Tenerife families.”
Out of the total 500,000 euros in this fund, 200,000 euros will be evenly distributed among all requesting municipalities meeting the specified criteria to ensure a basic, adequate, and fair allocation to all beneficiaries, while 300,000 euros will be allocated based on the number of vulnerability reports submitted to the courts by each municipality.
Town councils on the island interested in participating in this call for applications can submit their requests from Monday, July 15, for a period of ten working days. They can do so by accessing the Procedures and Services section of the Tenerife Island Council’s online platform, https://sede.tenerife.es.
