Wildfire Ignited in Los Realejos while Another Fire Tamed in El Rosario

On Monday, a wildfire started near Mirador del Lance, in Los Realejos municipal area, as stated by the Emergency and Security Coordination Centre (Cecoes) 1-1-2 and the Tenerife Island Council. The fire was contained by 11:06 a.m.

The blaze began at approximately 7:15 in the morning when the 1-1-2 operations centre received multiple reports of a significant smoke column in the vicinity, triggering an immediate response from emergency resources.

A helicopter from the Canary Islands Government and 20 Brifor Operation personnel, including a fire engine, were deployed at the location. Fire Consortium members and local police also participated in the operation.

The ban on lighting fires in recreational and outdoor areas, including barbecues, bonfires, stoves, or gas cookers, remains in effect this Monday. Additionally, the use of any equipment capable of generating sparks (e.g., brush cutters, welding tools, radial saws) and any pyrotechnic materials in high-risk zones is prohibited.

Smoking is also forbidden in recreational areas, camping sites, trails, viewpoints, and other public facilities situated in mountainous regions.

This preventive measure takes into account the prevailing weather conditions and the forest fire alert issued by the General Directorate of Emergencies of the Canary Islands Government due to high temperatures on Tenerife Island.

Incident in El Rosario

Apart from the wildfire in Los Realejos, 1-1-2 also announced that another fire erupted on Birmagen mountain in El Rosario municipality during the early hours of the morning. The fire was brought under control after 04:00.
