SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 14th Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The fire that erupted on Nateros Street in La Esperanza, in the Salto del Pino ravine area, within the El Rosario municipality (Tenerife), has been officially declared as stabilized and under control by 6:45 p.m., as confirmed by the Island Forest Fire Operation Coordination Center (Cecopin).
The fire ignited in the early afternoon and scorched 7,000 square metres of deserted agricultural land, bushes, fruit trees, and eucalyptus trees.
The authorities have upheld the ban on lighting fires in recreational and open-air locations – including barbecues, campfires, stoves, or gas burners – as well as the operation of any machinery or equipment that could generate sparks (such as brush cutters, welding gear, or circular saws), and the use of any pyrotechnic materials in high-risk areas.
Smoking is also prohibited in recreational areas, camping sites, campsites, trails and paths, viewpoints, and other public amenities situated in mountainous regions.
This decision was taken in consideration of the prevailing weather conditions and the alert issued for high temperatures and the danger of forest fires by the General Directorate of Emergencies of the Canary Islands Government on the island of Tenerife.
