SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 11 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Early on Thursday morning, the Civil Guard carried out the rescue of a vessel with 79 passengers, including a deceased male, located less than a kilometre off Las Vistas beach, in Arona (Tenerife).
The Canary Islands 112 Emergency and Security Coordination Center, along with the Red Cross, reported that the Civil Guard contacted 112 at 00:50, and subsequently, the vessel docked at Los Cristianos, where it was met by the Civil Guard at around 01:15.
Upon arrival at the dock, the personnel from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) and the Red Cross provided assistance to 78 migrants, including ten minors – six boys and four girls – and two women. Out of the total, six individuals, including four minors, one woman, and one man, were taken to hospitals for minor ailments.
The SUC team could only confirm the death of the deceased male found on the vessel, while the National Police oversaw the body’s removal, carried out by firefighters.
