The use of fire in outdoor recreational areas in the mountains of Tenerife is now prohibited until further notice due to the high risk of forest fires. Therefore, it is strongly advised not to enter or stay in forest zones on the island.
Beginning tomorrow, Thursday at 8:00 AM, Grade 1 preventive measures against forest fires will be enforced, considering the prevailing meteorological conditions of high temperatures and the alert status issued by the Government of the Canary Islands for Tenerife.
As a result, activities such as barbecues, bonfires, stoves, gas cookers, and the use of any equipment that might produce sparks (such as brush cutters, welding gear, or radial saws) are prohibited in high-risk areas. Additionally, the use of pyrotechnic materials is strictly forbidden.
Rosa Dávila, the President of the Tenerife Island Council, has urged extreme caution across the island to prevent any activity that could potentially lead to fires, including smoking, using electric generators, and handling electrical equipment.
The restrictions associated with Level 1 forest fire prevention will remain in place until the alert status is lifted.
