A 71-year-old lady tragically lost her life on Wednesday after being rescued from the water in a state of cardiac arrest on Las Teresitas beach in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, as reported by the 1-1-2 Emergency and Security Coordination Centre.
Following a distress call reporting that beach lifeguards had pulled a woman in cardiac arrest from the water and had initiated resuscitation procedures, emergency services were dispatched.
Despite the efforts of a doctor, a nurse from the local clinic in San Andrés, and personnel from the Canary Islands Emergency Service in administering both basic and advanced life support techniques, unfortunately, they were unable to revive the woman, confirming her passing.
Local law enforcement also assisted the emergency response teams by facilitating the transfer of medical professionals from the local clinic to the scene of the incident.
