SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 9th Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The University Hospital Ntra. Sra. de Candelaria, part of the Health Department of the Government of the Canary Islands, has rebutted the reported “critical” state of its Food services by NC-BC, affirming that it operates under “optimal” conditions and delivers care of “quality” to patients. This quality service is certified by Aenor with the ISO 9001 standard for its kitchen facilities, signifying adherence to standards of quality, efficiency, safety, and continuous improvement.
In a press release, La Candelaria Hospital emphasised that ongoing enhancements to the kitchen facilities are in place, disclosing that bids have been solicited from specialised firms in the last quarter to formulate a Functional Plan for the Food Service, aiming to modernise and expand the kitchen area. The centre anticipates full implementation by early 2025.
The hospital also informed that the procurement process for a car wash is in its final administrative phase and the acquisition process for the kitchen block has commenced.
In terms of catering to specific dietary requirements for individuals with allergies, the Hospital assured that separate preparation areas with dedicated equipment are utilised, with these cases being rare. Notably, no such special diets were prepared today.
Regarding cleanliness in facilities like the cold storage room, La Candelaria clarified that thorough cleaning is conducted after each shift (three times daily), with additional nightly cleaning once operations have ceased. Any identified issues are promptly addressed to guarantee a clean environment for the following day’s operations.
