The employees at the nighttime shift of the Automated Treatment Center (CTA) in Taco, located in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, have announced a strike on July 8th and 9th due to insufficient recruitment and substandard working conditions impacting the Universal Postal Service.

Workers at the CTA have expressed that the workload has increased without adequate hiring to cover absences, vacancies, and holiday periods.

They have noted that this ongoing situation has caused stress, anxiety, and a negative work atmosphere, ultimately affecting the well-being of employees and the effectiveness of postal services.

The staff are disappointed by the lack of effort from various Correos departments in resolving these issues, leading to a continuous burden on employees.

The strike committee has submitted a list of demands to the local authorities, including the necessity to fill all job positions, cease pressuring the staff, and ensure that tools and materials are in proper condition to prevent accidents.

The strike at the CTA in Taco comes after similar demonstrations in other towns in the province, such as La Laguna, Santa Cruz de la Palma, the metropolitan area of Santa Cruz, and the southern part of Tenerife.

Employees have cautioned that if their requests are not addressed, further demonstrations will be organised to advocate for fair working conditions and the preservation of a reliable universal postal service.
