SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 8 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –
On Sunday, there were five arrests by the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Local Police in connection to incidents involving acts of violence and mistreatment. During their routine patrol, they identified a man who was breaching a court order.
The initial event unfolded around 3:30 p.m. on Avenida de Los Majuelos, where a man was reported for allegedly assaulting and threatening a woman.
The authorities quickly responded to a nearby bar as witnesses reported the attack occurring outside, with the victim seeking refuge inside the establishment.
Subsequently, a 39-year-old individual identified as JAHS was detained. He had reportedly snatched a mobile phone from his 37-year-old partner on the street, in addition to physically assaulting her.
Following interviews with the detained man, the woman, and witnesses confirming the assault, the arrest was made.
The victim received necessary information and support, proceeding to a health facility with a companion and intending to file a formal report.
Another incident unfolded later at a residence near the Nuestra Señora de África market.
A woman reported that her ex-partner was attempting to enter her home and threatening her life. The 46-year-old man, identified as VMC, was caught by the police after trying to flee the scene.
A separate incident commenced with a fire reported at a private residence in the Villa Benítez area.
Responding officers contained the fire until the arrival of the Tenerife Fire Brigade, rescuing a 57-year-old resident identified as JALR.
MOTHER’S MENACE
Following the incident, the man’s mother revealed that she had previously left their residence due to threats and aggression, including threats to set the house ablaze.
The man’s daughter and wife provided matching accounts, leading to their arrest and subsequent judicial proceedings, detailed in a police statement.
The fourth incident took place in a domestic setting near the Somosierra neighbourhood, involving a 28-year-old victim subjected to abuse by her partner, leading to the arrest of a 53-year-old man identified as LFLH.
The day’s final occurrence occurred in the El Tablero neighbourhood, where a 40-year-old man known as MCB was arrested for threatening his 48-year-old partner’s life.
The woman escaped as the man caused damage to the property, citing this as a recurring pattern of abuse.
Despite initial resistance, the man agreed to cooperate with the authorities.
All those arrested were handed over to the corresponding judicial entities.
To cap off the day, officers pulled over a vehicle in the capital of Tenerife due to faulty lighting, discovering that the driver lacked a valid Spanish driving licence. The passenger, a woman, was also identified.
Upon verifying the driver’s details, it was found that he was under a court-mandated restraining order from the woman in the car, prompting immediate action by the authorities.
