Officials from Guardia Civil of the Nature Protection Service (Seprona) have apprehended a man in the town of Vilaflor in Tenerife as the alleged perpetrator of 15 fires that have caused significant damage to urban furniture, agricultural properties, and forested areas, with an estimated value of 55,000 Euros.
The arrest was carried out in the neighbourhood of La Escalona, within the municipality of Vilaflor. According to a statement from the Guardia Civil, the fires occurred within a maximum distance of one kilometre from each other and always during the same time frame, between 05:45 and 06:30 in the morning, over a period ranging from August 2023 to June 2024.

The thorough investigation conducted by the Seprona officials enabled them to gather enough evidence to identify, locate, and detain the suspect. At the time of the arrest, the man was in possession of several items indicating a potential involvement in starting fires: four lighters, four flammable sprays, three knives, two box cutters, a multi-tool knife, an adjustable wrench, and 5,000 Euros in cash.
