SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 6th Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Officers of the Civil Guard from the Nature Protection Service (Seprona) of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Command detained a man in the La Escalona area, part of the Vilaflor municipality, on suspicion of being the perpetrator of a total of fifteen blazes of different types. These fires caused significant damage to public property, agricultural lands, and forested areas, amounting to 55,000 Euros.
The series of blazes were set in close proximity to each other, specifically within a maximum distance of one kilometre. They all occurred during the same time frame, in the early morning hours (roughly between 05:45 and 06:30), over a short period of time (between August 2023 and June of the current year).
Through an exhaustive investigation conducted by specialised Civil Guard officers, enough evidence was gathered to determine, track down, and arrest the suspected individual. Upon apprehension, he was found with various items associated with potential arson: 4 lighters, 4 flammable sprays, three knives, two cutters, a multi-purpose knife, a wrench, along with 5,000 Euros in cash.
