TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes will be showing Empty Nets, a romantic drama set in Iran directed by Behrooz Karamizade, this weekend at 7:00 pm. The film tells the story of two young lovers who are deeply in love but are forced to keep their relationship a secret due to the restrictions imposed by tradition and social hierarchy. It will be screened in the original version in Farsi with Spanish subtitles.
San Benito festivities in La Laguna will feature some of their most important events this weekend. On Saturday, July 6th, at 8:00 pm, the Leal Theatre will host the election of the main pilgrim of the festivities and the regional pilgrimage of San Benito Abad. The first round of candidates will depart from Plaza Dr. Olivera to the Leal Theatre, wearing countryside attire from the early 20th century, accompanied by the 2023 Pilgrim Ship, dances, and choral groups. Various choral groups and soloists will participate in the event.
On Sunday, starting at 09:00 am, the III Memorial Hugo de Armas bike event will begin; and from 10:00 am, you can visit the exhibition ‘Tools and Craftsmanship of the Field’ on Ambassador de Armas Avenue. In the afternoon, at 5:00 pm, the selection of child and adult pilgrims of San Benito will start. During the same event, the VI Memorial Pedro Molina will be held to honour the trades and older individuals of San Benito.
‘Murder at Leal Theatre’

This Sunday, starting at 8:00 pm, the Leal Theatre in La Laguna will host a new installment of ‘Murder at Leal Theatre’, a theatrical tour presented as a clue game. Inspired by the detective stories of Agatha Christie, this tour will blend reality and fiction as you explore the Leal Theatre from the 1930s. Designed and led by historian Néstor Verona, the tour features Antonio Conejo, Eduardo Feria, and Sigrid Ojel, highlighting the historical and heritage values of the arts temple in La Laguna. Tickets are available for five Euros on the theatre’s website.
Garachico is hosting its craft fair this weekend. Traditional Canary crafts and new trends in craftsmanship will be on display in Garachico with 42 artisans showcasing their traditional and contemporary work.
