SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 5 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Installing the signs outlined in the Tourist Signposting Plan for the Isla Baja is now complete, an initiative included in the ‘Tourist Product Improvement Programme’ with the objective of providing information on the tourism potential of Tenerife.

The municipalities benefiting from this project are Buenavista del Norte, El Tanque, Los Silos, and Garachico.

In a statement, Vice President and Tourism Minister, Lope Afonso, emphasises that “a total of 145 signs have been placed, including vehicle directional signs, pedestrian directional signs, tourist information panels, and information totems across these four municipalities.”

The island’s governing body continues by stating that this project “aims to enhance tourism and socio-economic activity by offering improved information on the resources and amenities available in these locations.”

Afonso also highlights that many tourists explore the ‘Isla Baja’ by car or motorcycle, travelling from Garachico to Masca in the Teno Rural Park, “requiring a modern and concise guide showcasing the attractions of each municipality, encouraging them to make stops and support local businesses.”

The Vice President mentions that, with these new facilities, not only does it contribute to enhancing road safety and traveller convenience, “but it also elevates the quality image of the tourist destination with road signs that blend into the landscape, reducing visual impact on one of the most distinctive and well-preserved areas of the island.”

Lope Afonso concludes by stating that the Comprehensive Urban Signage Model in Tenerife will persist, ensuring that all municipalities adopt a new consistent system of road signs for navigation and tourism.

The breakdown of signs installed per municipality is as follows: 19 in Buenavista del Norte; 17 in El Tanque; 51 in Los Silos, and 33 in Garachico.

Additionally, 25 vehicle turn signals were incorporated on roads under the jurisdiction of the Tenerife Island Council.
